Coating Technology Creates Controlled-release Fertilizer Manufacturing Advantages, Sustainability Improvements, and Performance Benefits<\/h3>\n

SYLACAUGA, Ala., USA, November 23, 2021 \u2013 <\/strong>Pursell Agri-Tech, LLC<\/a> and Huntsman International, LLC<\/a> announce the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 11,180,429<\/a> by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This patent relates to the innovative PurActive\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> polyurethane-based coating technology used in the production of controlled-release fertilizer (CRF) for a broad range of markets including turf and ornamental, specialty agriculture, row crop agriculture, and consumer home and garden.<\/p>\n

Production of controlled-release fertilizer with PurActive\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> coating technology employs several technological advancements<\/a> to improve manufacturing efficiency and optimize productivity while reducing impact on the environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe PurActive\u00ae<\/sup> coating technology leverages Huntsman\u2019s advanced RIMLINE\u00ae<\/sup> polyurethane system and optimized processes to produce controlled-release fertilizer at faster batch times, lower processing temperatures and with a much thinner coating weight,\u201d said Jan Buberl, Vice President \u2013 Huntsman Polyurethanes Americas. \u201cThese unique advantages translate into lower energy usage and a reduced carbon footprint.\u201d<\/p>\n

University trials conducted on behalf of Pursell Agri-Tech demonstrated that the PurActive\u00ae<\/sup> technology also protected the core fertilizer substrate and minimized nutrient loss, greatly reducing volatilization and leaching.<\/p>\n

The PurActive\u00ae<\/sup> coating technology is thinner and allows for higher nutrient content per ton.\u00a0 The lower processing temperature promotes the survivability of such health-boosting additives as micronutrients, microbials, and biostimulants.<\/p>\n
